It’s back on!
No backing out this time! Come rain or shine, our 18 guys will be taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks. After having to cancel the last attempt due to terrible weather conditions back in July, the Horizon team are itching to get started.
Why are we putting ourselves through this?
The walk is taking place in aid of local charity, Wakefield Hospice. Wakefield Hospice is a purpose-built specialist palliative care unit that opened in April 1990 providing 8 single ensuite bedrooms and 2 four bed ward areas, a Day Care Unit, bereavement support and education.
Over the years the Day Care Unit developed initially into a Day Therapy Unit and ultimately into a Drop-In Centre providing therapies, information and care for patients, carers and bereaved families.
Obviously none of this comes cheap, and the hospice relies heavily on donations from the local area. With this in mind any contribution whatever the amount would be massively appreciated and used to really make an impact on a life in the local area.
Donations can be made at http://www.justgiving.com/Horizonplatforms
The event gets underway on the 15th September, bright and early at 7am. Please keep an eye on the Horizon Blog to see how we all got on.
